Last Days of September

I get so nostalgic in the fall.
It's something about the cooling air, warming hearts, and
bundling up.
It's like we survived the hot, sticky, busy summer that we'd
thought would never end.
I always get a little sad, though.
I feel as though I'm watching the warm, barefoot days and lazy
nights burst into flame-
watching them go down in a firey blaze of glory.
I know the cold is coming.
It's enough to make me shiver.

Saeed Tavakkol- Paintings

I was scouring the web looking for stock photos for my ad campaigns
when I stumbled across this artist's work.
" Intense" barely covers it.

Hauntingly beautiful.

Tavakkol grew up in the Middle East and spent most of his childhood nights cooling under the stars, recalling encounters with gypsies. You can see the color of those nights in his work.
You can almost smell the mystery and other-worldliness.
The internet is a wonderful thing.

Parker's Birthday Party

We finally had a birthday party for Parker and his friends. Four nine-year-old boys at full throttle . . . whew! They had fun and Parker got to see a couple of the boys he hadn't seen since last school year. All in all, a success.

School Newspaper

Parker and his friends at school have started a newspaper. They've recruited a bunch of kids as reporters and they run around at recess and get the scoops about things going on at school. It is hilarious. Apparently bus #180 is only safe towards the front and a snake skin has been discovered near a sewer grate. :)

Marta Locklear Photographs

I know we posted the proofs already, but I couldn't be happier with these pictures. We got the files today (bye-bye hard-earned money) so now we can start getting prints and frames and going nuts.

Tough Guy!

Parker put this on himself. Yes, it's a tank in the middle of his chest. What a character. Check out all those muscles! (Also, somehow he has managed to look toothless.)

No peeking!

Birthdays at the Hancocks

We celebrated Jeremy's, Janell's, Parker's and Claire's (Adam's girlfriend) birthdays together as they all happened in the last two weeks. It was fun and four birthdays means four different deserts!!!

Janell's Birthday

A night out at Carrabba's for the birthday girl!

Spoiled as always, Janell got a new chair for her office, another barbie, The Office (season 4) a barbie ornament, cinnamon almonds and lots of birthday wishes and love.

Don't worry Janell! We will sing to you at home. We'll just put the candles in the nuts.

Parker's 9th Birthday!!!

We were lucky enough to celebrate nine years of being Parker's parents today. I can't believe how quickly all this is going by.

Parker is so funny about manners. He asked a couple of times if he had seemed excited enough. He just wanted to be sure that he was showing his gratitude and enthusiasm. Judging from the videos, I think he had room to pull it back a bit. ;)

We are both so proud of our son. He's everything a parent could ask for.

First Day of School

Wake up, sleepy head!

Labor Day

The newly married Meghan (right) and Dena, our gracious cookie-making host.

Hangin' out at Aaron & Dena's house and eating all their cookies.

Trying to burn off the cookies (or chop off toes) with the horse shoe.

Bouff, Lawton, Jeremy, Parker & Joe. A rare moment- they were behaving.
